(283) SUPREME COURT: THE LAW SOCIETY OF SCOTLAND VIEW
The Law Society of Scotland’s response to the Supreme Court consultation (see Nos 236, 276, 279 and 280), accepts the case for a Supreme Court clearly distinguished from the legislature and the executive, but argues that particular care should be taken to ensure that the creation of the new court should take into account the need to comply with Article XIX of the Treaty of Union (1707) and the judicial and administrative independence of the Scottish judicial system”.
