(585) COMPENSATION ACT PASSED AT WESTMINSTER
The Westminster Parliament passed the Compensation Act 2006 and it received the Royal Assent on 24 July 2006. The Act contains the provision to reverse the effect of Barker v Corus to which the Scottish Parliament gave its consent on 29 June (see previously Nos 555, 575, 579). The relevant provision, section 3, Mesothelioma: damages), reads as follows:
(1) This section applies where—
(a) a person (the responsible person”) has negligently or in breach of statutory duty caused or permitted another person (“the victim”) to be
exposed to asbestos
