(1)  “Highly satisfactory” law faculties

Undergraduate teaching in each of the five Scottish law faculties (Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Strathclyde) was rated “highly satisfactory” by the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council (SHEFC) in a report issued in June 1996. This is the second-highest of four possible gradings, the others being, in descending order, “excellent”, “satisfactory” and “unsatisfactory”. The various Legal Studies courses offered by the universities of Abertay Dundee, Glasgow Caledonian, Napier and Robert Gordon were all rated as “satisfactory”. The reports are available from SHEFC Quality Assessment Publications, Donaldson House, 97 Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh EH12 5HD.
