(340)  HOLYROOD INQUIRY: PARLIAMENTARY RESPECT FOR BBC INDEPENDENCE

The Scottish Parliament decided on 31 March 2004, by a majority of 92-25, not to seek to compel, but rather to urge, the BBC to hand over to the Fraser Inquiry the tapes of its interviews with the late Donald Dewar and Enric Miralles (see Nos 285, 299, 312, 319).  With the Inquiry now in its last week of taking evidence, the BBC appears to be politely unwilling to comply with Parliament’s request.
