At a public meeting in the village of Glenelg on 5 April 2004 it was agreed that a community purchase of the Glenelg-Kylerhea ferry (one of only two sea-borne routes from the mainland to the Isle of Skye, the other being Mallaig-Armadale) should be attempted.  The present owner of the ferry had previously indicated that it was for sale and that he would give the Glenelg community first refusal (see No 334).  Finance will be sought from the local enterprise company, the Scottish Land Fund, and other sources.  The Glenachulish”
