(308)  SUPREME COURT SOUND BITES

The Lord Advocate’s argument that it is unsound in law and judgement to argue that the Supreme Court would be incompatible with the Treaty of Union (see No 305), seeming to challenge concerns expressed by the Senators of the College of Justice (for their submission to the DCA consultation, see the Scottish Courts website, http://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/index1.asp, and click on ‘What’s New’), the Faculty of Advocates (see No 279), the Law Society of Scotland (see No 283) and Lord Hope of Craighead (see No 236), has elicited response.   The Herald for 23 January 2004 reported the following comments:
