(521) SELLER’S SURVEY AND STANDARD MISSIVES: TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY CONVEYANCING TAKING SHAPE?

The Housing (Scotland) Bill completed its passage through the Scottish Parliament on 24 November 2005, giving effect to the new requirement in house sales that the seller provide a survey and information pack on the property for the benefit of buyers. The cost of this to the seller will be recoverable from the ultimately successful bidder for the property. It is anticipated that the scheme will come into effect in March 2007. Word has also reached Scots Law News of an initiative by the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow to produce a Glasgow standard offer” and “Glasgow standard clauses” for use in domestic conveyancing.
